I’ve come across the term “High rollers” many times, but I didn’t get the real meaning. According to the dictionary definition it means a person that goes around with nothing but the most expensive and fashionable stuff, from clothing to cars. But I wondered what it could mean when it comes to poker. I was surprised to find out that the meaning is more or less the same, only besides the best clothing and the fastest car and props its about players with the best abilities and the most experience in the field and those are the same people that walk around with designer clothes and heaps of coins.

 

 

These not on of people you are likely to come across in a normal poker room or even on the top poker sites. They are stratospheres above the rest of us.
These players usually participate in well publicized events and tournaments – They have already proven themselves, as far as gaming skills are concerned, and further participation is aimed at keeping a title or get even more exposure and publicity. Beyond the big tournaments, they tend to participate in special tournaments for people in their status, which tend to be very fast and with crazy amounts – so only people with enough money, knowledge and experience can participate.
It’s important to remember that even the best players started from nothing, because no one is born with the necessary experience and knowledge – these are acquired, and the more you practice and the more time and effort you invest the more you improve your game and gather further experience and money so one day you might also be considered a High-Roller.
